Activity Summary: Dept of Swasthavritta, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad organised Millets Recipe Week in connection with National Ayurveda Day to create awareness about the health benefits of millets, millet recipes and its preparation. Third year BAMS students (2019 batch) of Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College participated in the program under the guidance of Dr Deepak K S, Professor and HOD and Dr Preethimol T P, Asst Professor, Dept of Swasthavritta, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College. Pearl Millet (Botanical name: Pennisetum glaucum) is a rich source of energy, B & E Vitamins, Calcium, Iron, Zinc etc. it is gluten-free and has low probability of causing allergic reactions. Pearl millet dough prepared using coconut milk and jaggery is kept for 4 hours and is steam cooked to prepare Pearl millet steam cake. Prepared recipe was distributed among the patients, bystanders, students and staff of the College. Pamphlets explaining the health benefits of Pearl millet in Malayalam and Tamil were also distributed among the patients.
