VIJNANA SARANI – 2023: The International Conference on Clinical Paediatrics in Ayurveda

VIJNANA SARANI – 2023 International Conference on Clinical Paediatrics in Ayurveda inaugural took place at Ahalia Women And Children Hospital auditorium on June 7th.  Kerala University Of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohanan Kunnumal inaugurated the event.

Prof.(Dr.) Mohanan Kunnummal mentioned during the inaugural address that the Participants will have the opportunity to see a sustainable institution that combines conventional knowledge with cutting-edge technology at the Ahalia Health, Heritage, and Knowledge Village in Palakkad. The institution boasts a state-of-the-art hospital equipped with all specialties, providing a nurturing environment for holistic healthcare practices.

We are excited to welcome participants from across the globe to VIJNANA SARANI – 2023,” said the conference organizing chair Dr Sheba M D. She added “This event is a unique opportunity for Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, and enthusiasts to join forces, learn from each other, and contribute to the advancement of clinical paediatrics in Ayurveda. Together, we can drive the integration of ancient wisdom with contemporary science and technology for the betterment of healthcare.”

In the inaugural session welcome address was delivered by Dr. Arathi G (Assistant Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya) and vote of thanks by Dr. Arya S Varma (Professor and Head, Department of Rasa Shastra and Bhaisajya Kalpana)

  • Autism – Demystifying the Puzzle- Dr Pavan Madhusudan,(Consultant Paediatrican, Govt. General Hospital, Thrissur)
  • Ayurvedic Approach to Common Neonatal Disorders – Clinical Management & Beyond – Dr Nayan Kumar S (Associate Professor , Department Of Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH, Hassan)
  • Skin Disorders – Rationale Behind Paediatric Prescriptions – Dr Madhu P M( Assistant Professor, Govt. Ayurveda College, Kannur)

The second day concluded with ‘Vismaya Sandhya’ , various colourful cultural events.

The third day began with scientific sessions as follows:

  • Emergency Management in Paediatric Care – Dr Harigovind Sukumaran (Emergency medicine Consultant and Clinical director , Al Quassimi Hospital, Sharjah)
  • Neurological Aspects of Common Developmental Disorders in Children & Management Strategies- Dr Anil Kumar M V ( Professor and Head , Department of Kaumarabhritya , Govt. Ayurveda College, Trivandrum)
  • Ayurveda Perspective of Common Respiratory Illness in Children- Dr Aziz Abrar (Professor and Head, Depatrtment of Kaumarabhritya, KLE Ayurveda Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Belgaum)
  • Understanding Metabolic Syndromes in Children – Dr Preyamvadha R (consultant Paediatrician , Ahalia Women and Children Hospital, Palakkad)

About 600 Ayurveda doctors and researchers from different parts of the country attended the conference.  The conference witnessed over 200 scientific presentations. Dr M K Sharada(Govt. Ayurveda College, Mysore ) bagged first prize in essay competition – senior level and thereby won the tittle’ Ahalia Bhisak Prathibha’ and in junior level Dr Sharol Rashid (Govt. Ayurveda college, Trivandrum) and won the title ‘Ahalia Yuva Prathibha’. Dr. A.C Arjun and Dr. Abhimanyu Abhijith won second prize in senior and junior level essay competition respectively.  Dr. A C Arjun (Govt. Ayurveda College, Tripunithura), Dr . M S Lakshmi ( S D M College, Udupi) won first and second prize in paper presentation respectively. Dr Alok Kumar Tiwari from Amritha school of Ayurveda won consolation prize in video making competition. The prize distribution was done by Mrs. Sriya Gopal, Managing Trustee, Ahalia group of institutions. Welcome address of valedictory was by Dr. Devi S (Assistant Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya). Dr. Sheba M D delivered the valedictory address .The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sunil Kumar N.
