Preparation of Pathila Thoran – Karkidaka Month

The Department of Dravyaguna Vijnana, in association with the 2024 batch students, conducted the preparation of ‘Pathila Thoran’ on 30 July 2026 in connection with the Karkidaka month.The programme provided students with practical exposure to the identification of edible seasonal leafy vegetables and the preparation of a traditional Karkidaka dish. It aimed to revive and preserve Kerala’s traditional food knowledge and regional dietary practices by promoting the use of locally available medicinal and nutritious greens. The activity created awareness about the significance of seasonal food habits in maintaining health and encouraged students to appreciate and preserve indigenous culinary traditions. The prepared Pathila Thoran was distributed among the faculty members, students, and other staff of the institution.
