World Environment Day 2025

World Environment Day, celebrated every year on June 5th, is the United Nations’ principal platform for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. The theme for 2025, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” calls attention to one of the planet’s most urgent environmental challenges.

Recognizing the importance of this global initiative, the NSS unit of Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, in association with the Hospital Administration and the Department of Dravyaguna, organized a series of eco-conscious activities which aimed to educate, inspire, and engage the campus community in sustainable living.

The celebrations commenced in the morning with a plantation drive on the college campus. The programme was inaugurated by the respected Principal, Dr Sheba M D, who led the event by planting the first sapling. This was followed by the enthusiastic participation of Mr. Shibu (Hospital Administrator), Dr Ajesh Pilla ( Senior consultant), Dr Ranesh A K (Programme Officer & Assistant Prof.), Dr. Deepa(Hod. Dravyaguna) and other teaching and non teaching staffs along with the NSS volunteers.

In the afternoon, the NSS volunteers actively engaged in a premonsoon campus cleaning activity. The drive focused on cleaning surroundings, removing dry waste, clearing drainage paths, and preparing the campus to face the upcoming monsoon season. This initiative not only ensured a clean and hygienic environment but also highlighted the importance of preparedness and proactive environmental management.

The day’s events reflected the core NSS values of service and responsibility towards society and nature. The active involvement of students, faculty, and hospital staff made the celebration meaningful and impactful. The NSS unit of Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital continues to strive towards building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable campus.

“One step towards nature is one step towards our future.”
