Vrikshayurveda – Ayurveda for Plant Health
As part of the 10th National Ayurveda Day 2025 celebrations, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad, organized an enlightening webinar on the theme “Vrikshayurveda – The Ancient Wisdom of Plant Science in Ayurveda” on 13th September 2025 at 5:00 PM through a virtual platform.
The session focused on the significance of Vrikshayurveda, the classical Ayurvedic science of plant health, and its relevance in modern times. The program highlighted how nurturing plant life not only sustains the environment but also directly contributes to human health and wellbeing.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the guest speaker by Dr. Parvathy M. G, Assistant Professor, Department of Shalyatantra.
The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Niya T. Sivan, Scientist at Akay Natural Ingredients Pvt. Ltd., Aluva, who traced the rich heritage of Vrikshayurveda. She elaborated on traditional Ayurvedic techniques for the healthy cultivation and protection of trees, along with classical formulations to ensure their vitality. By linking ancient plant science with modern ecological needs, her talk inspired participants to embrace Ayurveda as a holistic science that nurtures both people and the planet.
The session concluded with the remarks of Dr. Ganga N, Associate Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya, who emphasized the importance of adopting Ayurvedic principles in daily life for personal as well as environmental well-being.
The webinar witnessed the participation of 80 attendees, including faculty members and BAMS students, making it a meaningful observance of Ayurveda Day 2025 under the national theme “Ayurveda for People & Planet.”
