Dept. of Sidhantha,Samhitha & Sanskrit

The Samhita, Siddhanta and Sanskrit Department of Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad has lecturers who teach Ayurveda subjects and Sanskrit language as per the course syllabus. In the curriculum of BAMS course, the teachers of the department guide the students of the first year in the subjects Padartha Vijnana, Ayurveda Itihasa, Sanskrit, Ashtanga Hrudaya and Charaka Samhita Sootra Sthana Adhyayana.For the second year and third year students the teachers share their knowledge on the important principles of the Charaka Samhita.The main activities of the department includes the works of Vedavahini Sanskrit Club which was constituted in the year 2015 conducing different activities like Samskruta Shibira (trying to communicate in Sanskrit by speaking in Sanskrit language by the students), Ashtanga Hrudaya Parayana (reciting the Slokas of Ashtanga Hrudaya Sootra Sthana as a continuous exercise), etc.

For getting personal experience on the healthy life style told in Ayurveda Samhitas, a twenty one day programme named Arogyacharya is being conducted every year with the full participation of all first year students which is beneficial for the students by awareness of healthy measures inscribed in Ayurveda Samhitas.

A one day exhibition named as Pradarshana Samhita was conducting yearly as an activity of this department with the participation all the students which will give an overall outlook on the basic principles and important concepts explained in different Ayurveda Samhitas.

  • On the occasion of International Sanskrit Day, Sanskrit Day celebration was conducting every year as one of activity of the department.
  • On the occasion of Charaka Jayanti, Charaka Jayanti was being celebrated every year with different programmes by the department.
  • A webinar series named as Vichintanam was conducting by the department on different principles explained in Charaka Samhita.
  • The aim of the department is for providing exquisite knowledge on the basic principles of Ayurveda and giving related knowledge on Sanskrit language.
