Breastfeeding Week Celebrations Organized by the Department of Kaumarabhritya

As part of the World Breastfeeding Week celebrations, the Department of Kaumarabhritya in association with Vyuha College Union organized a series of awareness and outreach programs aimed at promoting and supporting breastfeeding practices among mothers.
Major Activities Conducted
1. Awareness Class for Breastfeeding Mothers
An interactive session was conducted for breastfeeding mothers, focusing on the significance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper latching techniques, maternal nutrition during lactation, and common breastfeeding concerns. Experts from the Department of Kaumarabhritya Dr Kavyasree B S & Dr Lakshmi N Menon, Assistant Professors led the session, followed by a Q&A segment to address individual queries.
2. Preparation and Distribution of Galactogogue Recipe – Piyusha Modaka
As part of the program, the traditional Ayurvedic galactogogue recipe Piyusha Modaka was prepared. These modakas, formulated to enhance lactation, were distributed to patients visiting OPD of AAMCH. The process emphasized the utility of Ayurvedic dietary interventions in postnatal care.
3. E-Poster Series on Galactogogue Recipes
To create sustained engagement and awareness, an e-poster on various Ayurvedic galactogogue recipes was released daily throughout the week. These posters included ingredient details, preparation methods, therapeutic benefits, and usage instructions.
4. Pamphlet Distribution to Patients
Educational pamphlets were created and distributed to mothers attending the program and also to the patients visiting OPD of AAMCH. The pamphlets provided concise information about breastfeeding do’s and don’ts, maternal diet, benefits of breastfeeding, and Ayurvedic galactogogue recipes.
