AYURPRAVESHIKA of New BAMS batch 2025

The 15-day Transitional Curriculum Ayurpraveshika for the newly admitted BAMS Batch 2025 at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College was conducted from 1–19 November 2025, completing 90 hours of structured sessions with 6 hours per day, strictly following the NCISM-mandated modules and competencies for first-year BAMS students.

The program opened with a vibrant Inaugural and Welcoming Ceremony, featuring prayer, welcome address, lamp lighting, White Coat Ceremony, felicitation, Know Your College orientation, SSGP counselling, and a pre-test to assess baseline knowledge.

In alignment with NCISM guidelines, the curriculum covered all mandated domains including:
Ayurveda philosophy, basic principles, history, Indian Knowledge Systems, anatomy (Rachana Sharir), physiology (Kriya Sharir), Padartha Vigyana, Sanskrit orientation, ethics (Sadvritta), communication skills, digital literacy, research orientation, public health, yoga, meditation, and community connect activities.

Academic topics included Ashtanga Ayurveda, Trisutra theory, Dosha–Dhatu–Mala, Darshanas, Bruhatrayi and Laghutrayi overview, Ayurveda in global health, Krishi Ayurveda, higher education pathways, and diverse career options in Ayurveda. Students also received orientation to the competency-based BAMS curriculum and first-year subjects.

Practical and professional skill-building sessions—also mandated by NCISM—included student safety and anti-ragging, administrative and campus procedures, library orientation, First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), infection control, biomedical waste management, national health programs, and tobacco control awareness. Students were additionally trained in scientific writing, plagiarism prevention, time management, and technology use, AI in academics, soft skills, and effective presentation skills.

The curriculum gave special emphasis to Ayurvedic ethics, emotional well-being, digital toxicity awareness, Ayurveda psychology, Triguna theory, and developing the identity of a compassionate healer. Daily mindfulness sessions supported emotional regulation and mental clarity.

A major highlight was the NCISM-recommended field exposure, conducted as a visit to Vaidyagram, Coimbatore, where students observed authentic Ayurvedic clinical practice, medicinal plant gardens, treatment units, and interacted with senior Vaidyas during an inspirational session.

The Community Outreach Activity—“Jeevaneeya” (Ayurveda Arogya Mitra Abhiyan)—fulfilled the NCISM requirement for social responsibility and community engagement. Students visited households in Vadakarapathy Panchayath (Ward 17), interacted using a structured questionnaire, and adopted one family each for long-term monitoring, promoting preventive health awareness and real-world exposure.

The Valedictory Function featured reflections, future vision sharing, Principal’s address, summary of the 15-day curriculum, a post-test to measure progress, and a Talent Show that uncovered students’ creative and leadership abilities. Feedback was collected to enhance future programs.

Overall, the 90-hour NCISM-aligned program successfully provided a holistic academic foundation, professional values, practical exposure, and community responsibility, preparing students confidently for their BAMS journey at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College.
