SAMVAD – SWACHHATA HI SEVA 2026

As part of the *Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026* of the Government of India, the students of *Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College* participated in the “Samvad” (Interaction Session) organized by the Palakkad Division of Indian Railways on *24th September 2026* at the Meeting Hall, DRM Office, Olavakkode, Palakkad.
The programme commenced at 10:00 AM with an introductory address by Shri Madhukar Roat, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). In his speech, he invited creative suggestions from the students for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in railway premises and spoke about waste management, passenger safety, and facilities in trains and on railway platforms. Other officials who participated in the Samvad were Shri Jerin G. Anand – Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), Shri Chandan Kumar – Divisional Mechanical Engineer & Divisional Environment and Housekeeping Manager (DME & DEnHM) and Shri Ambu P. Kumar – Divisional Security Commissioner.
Ten students from Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College actively participated in the session. The programme provided a valuable opportunity for the students to interact directly with the Divisional Railway Manager and other senior railway officials and to share their ideas, suggestions and views regarding railway services, passenger amenities, cleanliness and overall railway development. An awareness video on Swachh Bharat and cleanliness practices was also shown.
The officers invited suggestions and discussed the problems, difficulties and complaints experienced by the students while using railway services. They also informed the students about the Indian Railways helpline number 139 for passenger assistance, enquiries and grievance registration, and introduced the RailMadad mobile application, through which passengers can register complaints related to trains and stations, submit suggestions and feedback, seek assistance and track complaint status. The students were encouraged to use these facilities for reporting issues related to cleanliness and passenger amenities.
The railway officials appreciated the thoughtful and practical suggestions shared by the students and acknowledged their active participation and keen interest in improving cleanliness, hygiene, safety and passenger facilities.
Following the Samvad, a Swachhata Awareness Rally was organized from the DRM Office to Palakkad Junction Railway Station. The students enthusiastically participated in the rally, carrying messages promoting cleanliness and responsible passenger behaviour. After the rally, a Swachhata Pledgewas administered in front of the railway station with the participation of railway officials and students.
The programme helped create awareness among students about maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and railway premises and encouraged them to contribute actively to the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative.
