AYURVEDA DAY CELEBRATION 2026 – KAYACHIKITSA DEPARTMENT
As part of the 11th Ayurveda Day Celebration 2026, various programmes were organized at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad, with the objective of promoting awareness about Ayurveda, its fundamental principles, healthy living practices, preventive healthcare, and the relevance of Ayurveda in contemporary healthcare.
The celebrations commenced with Dhanvantari Homam at 8:00 AM, invoking the blessings of Lord Dhanvantari, the deity associated with Ayurveda and healing.
The main Ayurveda Day programme was conducted from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the college courtyard. The inauguration address was delivered by Dr. Arya S. Varma, HOD and Professor, Department of Rasasastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. This was followed by felicitation addresses by Dr. Ajesh M. Pillai, Director, Ahalia Ayurveda Wellness; Dr. Preethi Jose, Medical Superintendent; Mr. Shibu Rajendran, Hospital Administrator; and Dr. Anoopkumar C. A., HOD and Professor, Department of Panchakarma.
The Ayurveda Day Pledge was administered by Dr. Arya S. Varma and was repeated by the students and staff members present, reaffirming their commitment towards the promotion and preservation of Ayurveda.
Activities of the Department of Kayachikitsa
The Department of Kayachikitsa actively contributed to the Ayurveda Day celebrations through a series of educational and interactive programmes aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of Ayurveda and its applications in contemporary healthcare.
1. Interdisciplinary Lecture – “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”
As a prelude to the Ayurveda Day celebrations, an interdisciplinary lecture titled “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow” was conducted on 22 September 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The session was delivered by Dr. Durga. E, Professor & HOD, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, for the First Professional and Second Professional BAMS students.
The lecture focused on the relevance of Ayurvedic principles in promoting health, preventing disease, adopting healthy lifestyles, and addressing emerging health challenges. The session provided an opportunity for students to explore how the holistic principles of Ayurveda can contribute to creating a healthier future.
The programme concluded successfully with active participation and interaction from the students.
2. Kayachikitsa Exhibition
On 23 September 2026, as part of the main Ayurveda Day celebrations, the Final Year BAMS students of the Department of Kayachikitsa organized an educational exhibition.
The exhibition featured a variety of charts, models, and 3D models related to Kayachikitsa, presenting Ayurvedic concepts and disease-related topics in a simple, attractive, and easily understandable manner. The exhibits provided an interactive learning experience and helped visitors gain a better understanding of the practical applications of Kayachikitsa.
3. Food Exhibition
A food exhibition was organized by the Kayachikitsa Department, highlighting the importance of appropriate food choices and healthy dietary practices.
The exhibition emphasized the Ayurvedic concept of Ahara as an important pillar of health and showcased various food items and their relevance to healthy living. The activity helped communicate the importance of proper nutrition and mindful dietary practices in maintaining health and preventing lifestyle-related disorders.
4. Quiz Competition for School Students
An Ayurveda-themed Quiz Competition was conducted for school students as part of the outreach activities of the Department of Kayachikitsa. The quiz introduced young learners to basic concepts of Ayurveda, healthy living, traditional healthcare practices, and balanced lifestyle practices. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition.
